NEW WEBSITE! | St. Louis Child Photographer

I have great news!  My new website/blog is live and I'd love for you to start following me at my new address: http://danicanelsonphotography.com.  I'm especially excited because it’s a website and a blog all in one!  It’s definitely been a labor of love as it's taken me over four months to fully put together (thanks to our big move and getting settled), but I’m beyond excited to finally be launching Danica Nelson Photography here in St. Louis.  You can click on “Portfolio” to view image galleries of my work, and you can follow my posts to stay up-to-date with my latest work, helpful hints and photography finds.  Don’t forget to change your links and/or bookmarks, subscribe to my RSS feed or add me to your Google Reader!  If you'd like a button for your own blog, you can use the code at the bottom of my new site!

I owe a big thanks to Lacey of Lacey Reimann Photography for being a HUGE help to me throughout the process, and for referring me to Portfoliositez.com, the company I used to create my site.

I also owe a huge thanks to my awesome friend Stacia for helping me with my rebranding and the design of my website.  She walked and talked me through the whole process, helping me really figure out what I wanted, and saving me from a possible lawsuit with National Geographics someday!!  Haha...yes, the first logo I designed had an uncanny resemblance to theirs, which Stacia kindly pointed out.

Safe and sound... | St. Louis Family Photographer

Well, we made it through three days of car travel with two small children...and lived. Actually, the trip couldn't have gone any smoother. The kids did great and we got to St. Louis all safe and sound. We are currently living in a display unit at our new apartment complex until our unit is completely ready. We decided to upgrade at the last minute even though it wouldn't be ready for us to move directly in. The people we have met have been fabulous and we are excited to get settled in around the 10th of the month. I'm so sorry to my clients that are still waiting for their session discs, or more peeks. I promise I will have things to you as soon as possible, but until we move into our actual apartment on the 10th, we don't have access to the internet and most of our stuff. I appreciate your patience with me!! We miss Philly, but love St. Louis so far. Stay tuned for more next week.

On hold! | Philadelphia Child Photographer

Hey folks! Danica Nelson Photography is ON HOLD for a couple weeks. My cute hubby graduated from the UPenn Dental Medicine program yesterday and we have nine (!) family members here to help us celebrate! We're also moving to St. Louis on the 29th and are in the middle of packing and preparing for that. I'm sorry to my sweet clients waiting for their discs or sneak peeks, but I'm taking a necessary break for all things business to take care of my family during this crazy time. I will be in touch soon and will get to emails as I'm able to! Thanks for your patience... :)

Moving to St. Louis!

As I previously explained, our family will be moving to St. Louis at the end of May. We're excited for the new adventure that lays ahead, and I'm excited to meet new wonderful children and families to photograph. In order to have my business up and running when we arrive in St. Louis, I will be using St. Louis tags instead of Philadelphia ones from now on.

P.S. My family sessions are completely full for the rest of my time here in Philly. I still have openings for newborns and indoor child shoots however!

Thanks for all who have responded to be on the waiting list. I'm now booked for Spring 2010 family sessions! When the time comes, there may be cancellations, so if you'd still like to get on the waiting list, you can do so and I'll contact you if there are any openings. I should still have some openings for mini portrait sessions for newborns, babies and children in my home throughout May, but on a limited basis. On a personal note...

My husband has matched to St. Louis University's orthodontic program! Although very exciting for our little family, it's already bringing on some very bittersweet emotions for me. I will be horribly, excrutiatingly sad to leave our awesome friends (who are more like family) and just as sad to leave my wonderfully fantastic clients here. As of now, the plan is to move around the end of May. So be aware that spring will be a very busy time as I try to cram as many sessions in as I can while packing up and moving as well. If you'd like to get on the waiting list for any session in 2010, email me as soon as you can to up your chances of making it happen!

New Look (Again)

So I guess I can't help but change up my site every few months. This time I used a free template (see the very bottom of my site for the website and template name) based on my cute slash awesome friend Stacey's recent revamp (http://staceybishopphotography.blogspot.com). Google Reader-ers, not like you'll really ever see my site, but oh well.

I also just figured out how to post my pictures at the right resolution so they're not pixelated as they have been for a long time, thanks to help from the also awesome Amy from http://amyleighphoto.blogspot.com. I will post about it soon. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hopefully the session details are easy to understand, but if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. The sessions taking place at my home will be with backdrops and using natural light. Again, these prices will apply to all new sessions booked - and since I am full for April and May - that mostly means from June on. changes.coming

I love photography. I wish I had endless hours to devote to doing shoots and learning and growing as a photographer - BUT - it turns out I'm a mom to a busy toddler and beautiful baby girl and it actually takes TIME to take care of them properly! They need me and I need time with them. So...changes are coming. I'm going to be restructuring the way I do sessions a bit, and that will include some price changes. I should have them up soon, and it will affect all new sessions scheduled (basically June or later, since my calendar is full for now). If you've already paid for or scheduled a session, the old pricing will apply. I'm sorry I can't give dirt cheap sessions to everyone I know because I'd truly love to. Keep posted for the upcoming changes.

And because no post is complete without pictures...here are my two darlings a few days ago. I was trying out my new seamless paper (Thunder Grey by Savage).

Thanks for asking, and they most definitely are available, in any amount. They will expire one year after they're issued and can be put toward any session costs. (They are also available after the holidays, since they've almost come and gone!) For now, you can purchase them through me directly - you can pick them up from me, or I can mail them to someone for you after receiving payment by cash or check.
